Business Week rolled out the top 100 Brands of 2009 recently.  I was reading the article & here is a quick snapshot of the Top 10!

Top 2

The next 2

And the rest…

That makes the group complete-

  • 4 Technology Companies
  • 1 Automobile Company
  • 2 Food & Beverage Companies
  • 1 Telco Giant
  • 1 Entertainment company
  • 1 Conglomerate (GE).

Here is a view of the rankings in 2008 & 2007! The interesting thing is the list has remained more or less the same over the last 3 years.  Except for a brand like Google that made a jump of 10 places… Innovation & consistency are 2 things that I think is critical to keep a company’s brand alive & thriving!

Reynolds Ad

Reynolds

Another great ad that really grips your attention.

Reminds me of the fundamentals of Advertising I learnt when I started working!

  • Who is your target audience?
  • What is the problem you are trying to solve?
  • What is the solution?
  • How do you get there?

One of the main purpose of an Ad is to grip the attention of the reader.  This ad definitely does it. It is elegant, and definitely something that holds the attention of the reader.  It also very clearly identifies the product- Reynolds- in a very simplistic, minimalistic way.  Beautifully done, in my opinion.

However, for the rest of the questions – I suppose they are riding on the awareness of Reynolds as a brand to take them through the woods.

This ad works for me!

Here are some good write-up’s of the Indian Market.  Interesting inputs & the potential in the market is HUGE! The opportunity to export these pens to other markets at attractive prices are also enormous. I remember buying the China made “Hero” pens, which now, are a shade compared to their old glory! Local markets in India thrive with a huge array of locally made pens that are on par with the best I have bought in Singapore.  This is another market that is soaring in India – and ready to play a big role in the International markets!

Happy writing!
